Reef
Rescue of Palm Beach County is an organization that is
dedicated to the preservation of our coral reefs.
Coral reefs are a delicate and unique environment. Because
of their richness and diversity of life, coral reef
communities are often called rain forests of the sea.
Unfortunately, coral habitats are threatened worldwide from
a variety of influences including coral bleaching, habitat
destruction and development. The Florida Keys, Dade
and Broward County reefs all suffer from a complex mix from
human impact, development and degraded water quality. The
coral reefs tracts of Palm Beach County are some of the last
healthy systems in Florida. These reefs contribute $194
million dollars per year to the economy of Palm Beach
County.
